It's safe to say...

I had a GREAT day.

In the morning, I met:

Weird Al Yankovic.

One of my comedy heroes. He was not feeling well but still chatted. I asked him what his favorite original song was, and he said "I don't know, what's yours?"
I said "Dare to be Stupid."
He said, "My favorite too!"
I said, "But I really like 'Albuqurque'."
He said, "Me too!"

Nice guy, even though he was chugging pepto bismol.

then in the afternoon, I met:

Former Nebraska Cornhusker and current Kansas City Chief Will Shields.

Will is also a former NFL man of the year, and was also really nice.

Yeah, I had a good day. Now, if only the Democrats can take over the government, it would be perfect!

More than just pictures...

I been thinking over the past two weeks about how I haven't posted anything but pictures here in while. those of you who read this for status updates probably are upset. Here's a bit of a recap.

Riley had Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease for a few days, and I stayed home with her from work, just so we didn't expose other kids at daycare (where she got it.) We only kept her out 1 day though.

Riley's either in a really good mood, or crabby it seems. we try everything to keep her happy and when that doesn't work we say... "Wanna watch Doodlebops?" She'll reply, "Dee-Bop?" and head to her chair. 25 minutes later, she's happy.

Now Jodie and I have become experts in the Doodlebops, and have a number of the songs memorized. We're expert enought to tell you that this picture is an old one, because you can see their ears in their hair. Later episodes hide their ears and there's a different character.

We've even got our favorite songs. The only thing I can't figure out is how rooney plays guitar with those giant fingers.

Problem is, we get them stuck in our heads and sing them at work. Such is the life of a parent.

BTW, I've seen headshots of Dee Dee Doodle without her makeup on and she's cute! However, there is an "adult actress" (porn) who has a similar name, so If you google search for her, you end up seeing naked pictures. Yikes.

here's a family safe link to see the Doodlebops without their makeup. DOODLEBOPS!

So Riley's world consists of Ducks, "mel-mo" and "dee-bop."

She's nearly running without falling. She's making it up and down the steps, slowly.
Honestly, one of my favorite things is that she's grown enough to when she holds my hand while we walk somewhere, I don't have to lean awkwardly to one side.

I've noticed its a lot of the little things I enjoy about being a dad. Cuddle time is more precious now that she can walk away from you. She gets very cuddly about every other day or so. Also, when you get her up first thing in the morning, and she stretches and sucks in her baby tummy, it's the cutest thing in the world.

She knows that her pacifier/binkie is only for bedtime now, and when you pick her up out of the crib, she pulls the bink out of her mouth and will drop it on her dresser. Bunny stays in the crib too, but occasionally finds his way out.

New Words she knows and uses:
Door
"Bee" means "bink"
"Mo" for Elmo has become "Mel-Mo."
sometimes she's say "peas" for Please.
"down" still means both "up" and "down"
"Ide" means outside.
"M-ow" is Moo and cow combined.
"baaaa" is sheep.

She knows that when we get her Jacket, it's time to go bye bye. and when we give her shoes... if you sit on the floor she's back into you so you can put them one. She still enjoys putting our shoes on. But you have to make sure she's wearing hers as well, otherwise she walks right out of them.

Wookie still adores Riley. She's taking my dog away from me.

Most importantly, she's still reading and reading and reading. For a long time it was the 10 little rubber ducks, now it's a big book of words. "point to the cow... where is the fish" etc. she's pretty good.

we went to Marley's 3rd birthday party last night. Riley ran around dave's house with a 3 year old, an 8 and a 5 year old. All girls. That many screaming, running girls makes me want a boy.

That's a lie. I could have nothing but baby girls forever.

That's all for now. I have to go give mommy a break.
