Big Changes in our House (and Garage)

I looked at Jodie this evening, and said "Wow, we've really purchased some nice things in the last few months, and all of them have been totally worth it." The list includes: The Dyson Vacuum, My 8.0 MegaPixel Digital SLR camera (with two lens kit), My 30 GB Video Ipod is pretty cool...
Now we add a Big Girl Bed for Riley.
we put it together today, and managed to get it in the room, along side the crib, where Jodie's rocking chair was. Right now, it's just after bath time, and Riley didn't even want stories tonight Usually we have to put an end to stories after three of the. We tucked Riley into her Big Bed, at her request. Pulled the sheet up, sang a quick song, said our prayers and kissed her good night.

We pulled the door closed, and I expected crying. NOT A PEEP. She's been in there 5 minutes and she's fast asleep, I think. We don't dare check at risk of waking her up.

Also onto the list of cool new things:
a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan!!!!!!

We paid off the 2004 Saturn Ion, traded in our 1999 (or 2001, I forget) Pontiac Montana, which has less than 60,000 miles on it, put down a fairly good sized down payment, and managed to get a brand spanking new van. with the "luxury" package that includes leather seats and a 6 disc DVD player for Riley. (fun little things like wireless headphones too!)

And the best part? we're not paying much more for this pimped out ride than we were on the Saturn! Jodie's been thinking about how difficult it would be trying to get two kiddos in to the Pontiac with just one sliding door. Now we have two sliders, as you can see, and they both open automatically. I never want to have to open a door again!

Finally, after I took pictures of Jodie in the van, Riley wanted to play in the back yard, so I kept snapping. the picture below is pretty cool. It's what happens when your flaxen haired daughter twists her head around right as you snap the picture.

Looks like I'll be drinking cheap beer from now on... Oh wait, I already do.

a day at the park...

Well, I thought I had a softball game last week at 2, but it turns out it was at 4. Jodie had promised Riley she'd get to play in the park, so we stayed the 2 hours. It was nice, and I took some great photos.

and of course, when I find the perfect place to shoot Jodie and Riley walking hand in hand on a nature trail, Riley didn't want to hold Jodie's hand. She wasn't mad, just didn't want to hold hands. It was actually quite funny.

Oh, and this one just proves she's "the baby without fear." (jodie was freaking out, I let her climb. She did fine.)
