Pregnancy Brain

It's an established medical fact that women actually become less... "sharp" during pregnancy. They tend to be more forgetful, and aren't their normal, smarter than men, selves. This is a condition we call "pregnancy brain."

There is also a term known as "couvade." Couvade comes from the French word couvee meaning "to hatch". It has come to mean a man having a "sympathetic pregnancy." Yes, ladies, this means that your partner could start to vomit, gain weight, and have many of the "joys" associated with pregnancy.

I think I may have sympathetic pregnancy brain.

When we found out we were pregnant, we told anyone who would listen. I told people at work I hardly know. Of course, we told our families first... But since then, many details about the baby have been kept within the friendly confines of Kansas City. Unless a Mother or Mother in Law asks, they may not hear the latest information.

Now, some people here at work, who work different shifts, are finding out when I ask them about daycare. That's fine, we work different shifts.

That being said, I SWEAR I told my Mom that we had a name picked out. We've had Riley Jane picked out for a good month now. HOW IN THE WORLD DID I NOT TELL MY OWN MOTHER THE NAME OF HER GRANDDAUGHTER?

So when I get an email this morning, telling me she's glad there's the internet, so that she can learn the name, from the Babies 'R Us website, I felt enormously bad.

Sorry Mom.

I guess it's one of two things:
1. I also am exhibiting signs of Pregnancy Brain.
2. I'm the worst son in the world!

I hope this doesn't affect my standings in the whole "favorite child" rankings between me and my sister.
