Attempting to Catch you up... Volume 1

Let's do the time warp... Back to October. Jodie and I had been trying for 3 years to get pregnant. We tried Ovulation Prediction kits, injectible fertility drugs, "sample counting" (I have excellent swimmers.) the whole thing. Then on October 11th, we went in to the Reproductive Specialist for an IUI Procedure. This is different from In-Vitro. IUI is basically the "turkey baster" approach to getting pregnant.

After gathering a "sample" at our house, we drove into the REs office and eagarly awaited squirting this stuff in. (ewww) With 2 nurses, a Med Student, the good Dr. Zamah, Jodie and myself, the room was rather crowded. I picked my chair and sat patiently as the doctor explained to the student how good Jodie's cervical mucas was.

I, unfortunately, was at the "foot end" of the table. This means I had front row seating for the whole procedure. Not only does a husband never, ever want to see someone explain the clear-ness and stringy-ness of his wife's mucas, a husband also should never, EVER be privy to seeing his wife spread-eagled on a exam table... complete with a speculum. Trust me. The image still haunts me. But all for the best, I guess. *shivers*
